Feast Newsletters

For some months now, we have been putting out a simple newsletter after each of our regular community gatherings. These gatherings, called 19Day Feasts are a time for the members of the community to gather together and listen to extracts from the Bahá'í Writings in a short devotional, then for the community to discuss matters of concern for the community. It is also where suggestions can be made about future activities, and a report is given of past events.
At the end of the meeting there will usually be some refreshments.

Feast of Questions December 2009
Carlton community have a warm welcome at the feast to two visitors from Lowdham - Brigitte and her neighbour, Sue who has recently declared - and two from Ashfield, Hugh and his son Shaun.
Godfrey explained the function of the feast meeting and described its three parts. The devotional readings were selected by the hosts, Nur'u'llah and Nadareh.
News from the Assembly was followed by a discussion on teaching in the Arnold area and several suggestions will be passed to the Assembly for consideration. Hugh suggested that he and Simin would be interested in joining the NHS faith forum which is being started in January. We are getting to hear of and be invited to join more advisory groups in both the public and voluntary sectors and we are looking for more members to offer their time to these.
News from the Assembly
Work is continuing in the redesign of the community website. A small group has been set up to look at this. The tree planting offer was well received and we have had another request to support a tree planting in Netherfield. The Assembly has agreed to this, but will make it clear we cannot support all such requests in the future. The Assembly has offered some financial support towards any youth who wish to go to the Conference in London at the end of the month. The Assembly is looking in to developing External Affairs, and is looking to meet with Nottingham to see how this might be co-ordinated across the area.
